This one kept shape-shifting on me.
Every few songs I’d think, okay, I’ve got it — and then it would tilt in another direction. It moves through psychedelic, shoegaze, atmospheric indie rock, power pop, and something harder to pin down.
What holds it together is the songwriting. Beneath all the texture, there’s a real sense of melody. These aren’t just sounds drifting around in reverb — the hooks are there, sometimes buried, sometimes just out of reach.
“Soundtrack For An Image” feels like an anthem hiding under lo-fi static. The chorus wants to open up, but instead it shimmers and diffuses — held back in a way that actually makes it hit harder.
“Traces of Blue” starts acoustic and intimate before those fuzzy edges creep in. The vocal shift gives it a slightly soulful feel without pushing too far.
“Summer” could easily be a straight-up alt-pop song. The melody is right there. But it stays just a little off-center — softened, obscured, resisting the clean version of itself.
“In the Noise” leans into a more restrained, Radiohead-like space — ambient, spacious, and patient.
Elsewhere, “Valencia” drifts into a more playful, dreamlike feel, while “Drift” sinks fully into that hazy, Cocteau Twins-style atmosphere.
The vocals sit slightly back in the mix throughout — not hidden, just folded into everything else. It keeps the focus on mood as much as anything being said.
What I liked most is that it never feels like it’s trying to imitate anything. You can hear the influences, but it all comes through in a way that feels personal.
It’s eclectic without feeling scattered. Dreamy without losing its shape. Lo-fi without giving up melody.
I really dug this one.
Verdict: Solid
