This is a short four-song EP, but you can already hear that familiar Sublime brand of music.

That mix of punk and dancehall is fully in place — the bass carries a lot of the weight, the guitars have that loose, wah-driven feel, and the vocals move between melody and something closer to spoken delivery. It’s laid back and aggressive at the same time.

It really comes across as party music with attitude.

“Don’t Push” has a smooth, easy groove that settles in right away, while “Slow Ride” leans more into the reggae side of things with that steady, swaying rhythm.

There’s also an early version of “Date Rape Stylee,” which I remember being pretty controversial later on in the 90s. It’s interesting hearing it in this earlier form, already carrying that same edge.

It’s a small batch of songs, but it feels like they already knew exactly what they were doing.
