Album by Clannad
This is a blend of a lot of different sounds — Celtic, orchestral, electronic — maybe even a little new age. I’m not totally sure what to call it, but it’s definitely more about atmosphere and setting a mood than anything else.
It’s a really pretty, almost haunting listen.
“Ri Na Cruinne” sets that tone right away — soft, drifting, and kind of wrapping around you like a night fog. It has that ethereal quality where it feels more like it’s floating than moving.
“Fortune’s Head” pushes things in a slightly different direction, almost leaning toward something more progressive, while “Poison Glen” feels closer to traditional roots, with vocals that carry a lot of weight.
“Love and Affection” gave me some Cocteau Twins vibes — that same layered, almost otherworldly vocal presence.
A lot of the album sits in that space — atmospheric, immersive, and more about feeling than structure.
At times it drifts a little too close to easy listening for me, but when it leans into that haunting, ethereal side, it really works.
Verdict: Worth A Spin
