This leans into hardcore punk, but it feels a little different from what I’m used to. More like a pre-grunge murky kind of thing.
It’s still fast and loud, but less chaotic — there’s a heavier, almost metal-like drive running through it. The riffs feel more deliberate, and the whole thing sits in a darker space. Less irreverent, more weight.
It feels like despair played at full volume.The bass really stood out to me throughout — strong, driving, and giving the songs a lot of their momentum.
“Anything It Takes” and “Detectives” were the two that clicked most, both leaning into that balance of speed and structure.
“Understanding” carries that same tone — urgent, but controlled.
I don’t know that I’ll come back to this one, but I can hear what it’s doing, and a lot of it works.
