Album by Vicious Rumors
This sits right between hard rock and metal.
It has all the scaffolding of metal — fast drums, chunky guitars, and those high, operatic vocals that feel straight out of a Judas Priest album — but underneath that, there’s a strong sense of melody and songwriting that leans more toward a rock foundation.
It’s big, dramatic, and a little over the top, but it never loses sight of the hooks. The songs feel built, not just played at full speed.
I also liked the interplay between the lead vocals and the group chants — those shout-along moments give it an extra push and make everything feel a little more alive.
I’m not totally sure if it’s trying to tell a larger story or not, but there’s enough consistency in tone that it feels like it could be reaching for something bigger.
This isn’t really my usual thing, but I had a good time with it. If you like old school chunky metal Vicious Rumors should be right in your wheelhouse.
